BOSTON and MONTREAL, August 6, 2024 – UbiSim (www.ubisimvr.com), the world's first immersive virtual reality (VR) simulation education platform specifically designed by nurses and for nurses, and its parent company, Labster, today announced the results of its 2024 Spring Survey of Nursing Simulation.
Key findings include:
- Grows Recruitment and Enrollment: 82% of nursing program directors agreed that UbiSim's immersive VR technology helps attract more students, while 72% reported it enables their programs to accept more students. Three-quarters of surveyed nursing programs reported growth of 5-25% since implementing the UbiSim platform.
- Prepares Nursing Students: 94% of nurse learners agreed that UbiSim helps prepare them for clinical settings, and 90% said it aids in preparing them for the Next Generation NCLEX licensure exam.
- Preferred by Simulation Directors: 78% of simulation directors ranked headset-based immersive VR as the most effective simulation modality for developing clinical judgment skills, outperforming high-fidelity manikin and computer screen-based simulations.
- Greater Psychological Safety: 50% of nurse learners reported feeling safer and more comfortable learning with UbiSim compared to other simulation modalities, appreciating the opportunity to practice without real-world consequences.
- High Student Satisfaction: 91% of nurse learners rated UbiSim as equal to or better than other nursing simulation modalities.
These findings come at a crucial time when nursing education faces significant challenges, including a shortage of nurse educators and clinical site preceptors who prepare nurse learners for the realities of working as a nurse.
“Preparing nurses to be ready to care for patients on day one requires the work of dedicated nurse faculty and healthcare simulationists who have the expertise to select the right simulation modality for their learning objectives,” said Christine Vogel, MSN, RN, CHSE, CHSOS, Lead Nurse Educator at UbiSim. "The results of this survey further reinforce that UbiSim’s immersive VR platform is a particularly effective simulation modality that helps nursing students engage deeply during their training, and helps nursing schools bridge the gap between didactic learning and clinical practice.”
UbiSim offers an impactful learning experience for nursing students that spans the complete simulation experience from prebriefing to debriefing. By simulating real-life scenarios in headset-based immersive VR, nurses can practice their skills in a safe environment before encountering real patients.
