Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Knight is a 64-year-old female who presented to the emergency department (ED) in the middle of the night (0245) with shortness of breath when walking, a productive cough with rust-colored sputum, fever, and fatigue for 3 days.

Learning Objectives

Conduct a focused nursing assessment for a patient with pneumonia
Implement evidence-based nursing interventions for a patient with pneumonia
Provide therapeutic communication, support, education, and advocacy to a patient living in a medically underserved community
Communicate the patient's condition to the interprofessional team, using the SBAR format
